On June 30th, Turbine Entertainment instituted the latest patch in the long-running Asheron's Call 2. The update mainly focused on upgrading the crafting system to what is now known as "Crafting 2.0."

A complete revamp of the crafting system, Crafting 2.0 classifies six locations as "crafting towns": Cavendo, Ikeras, Hakata, Linvak, Tukal and Ondekodo. Forges no longer requires fuel, though this comes at the loss of forge-related bonuses. In order to craft, players must be near a forge - no more crafting in the woods. A new experience system gives crafters experience points that they can spent on different skills. Craft XP is earned by doing any mining related task and replaces the old system of practicing a set number of recipes to unlock new recipes. Learning levels now cause a character to tire after crafting for an excessively long time. Players will also discover that new crafting titles have been added to the game.

That's far from all folks - item decay is gone, replaced by a new Durability Points system. The problem with item decay is that items would decay even if they had not been used. The new Durability Points system gives each item a set amount of DP - as it is used, the DP decreases. Once the DP supply is exhausted, the item disappears.

A new process entitled Spellbinding allows players to upgrade any item. Through the use of special ingredients, a totem can be formed by sucking the magical spells off of random objects. That totem's spell can be stuck on any item, providing it has a spellbinding slot available.

Numerous improvements to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) have also been made in order to simplify the game. For example, an Auto-Fill button has been added in order to make crafting easier.
