F.E.A.R. takes a new turn with its second expansion, Perseus Mandate. Instead of continuing the story from Extraction Point's cliffhanger ending, the game takes a couple steps back in time and tells a story which runs parallel to the events of the original F.E.A.R. and Extraction Point. This time, you take point on a second First Encounter Assault Recon team sent in to investigate Armacham Technology Corporation. However, for an unexplained reason, that character has the same time slowing powers as the original hero.

Thankfully, you won't battle another clone army. Instead, you'll square off against mercenaries equipped with advanced assault rifles featuring infrared scopes and grenade launchers. Grenade launchers are something to watch out for, since they easily bounce off walls to reach around corners, and explode the moment they contact flesh.

These guns for hire are somehow connected with a new group of horrifying monsters known as Nightcrawlers. You can look forward to larger scale battles in comparison to the first games, with multilevel industrial areas everyone has become familiar with. Furthermore, the expansion packs all the dark, shadowy, corridors and complexes F.E.A.R. is known for.

Similar to previous F.E.A.R. adventures, the creepy little girl Alma returns to mess with your head, causing all sorts of psychological mayhem. You will also spot her at various points throughout the adventure, a grim reminder of what's to come.

Perseus Mandate ships this October as a stand-alone game for the PC and Xbox 360. It will also come bundled together with Extraction Point as a complete F.E.A.R. Files package. This wraps up the series, though whether or not it'll be a happy-ending remains to be seen. Considering Alma's homicidal tendencies, we foresee lots of sadness and bloodshed.
