When Ubisoft first announced Far Cry Vengeance for the Wii, gamers expected the company to deliver beautiful graphics and stellar first person shooter game play to Nintendo's system. Well, the final version feels like Ubisoft kicked main character Jack Carver out of a plane without a parachute, as the once anticipated game hits the Wii with a deadening thump.

In the game, the quick-witted Carver faces countless mercenaries across a tropical island. While packing all the knives, machine guns and grenades from the first game, he gains new abilities that include super-jumping, insane claw attacks and fast running speed to make him less than human.

Far Cry Vengeance clearly shows signs of being rushed in an attempt to meet the holidays. Let's break this down into the two largely faulted categories: gameplay and presentation.

The graphics clog up the screen like wet hair in a drain pipe. Many of the objects in each level habitually disappear and then reappear. The frame rate jitters, depending on how much action occurs on-screen. Because of these horrendous problems, the game bogs down. Furthermore, driving a vehicle sucks because objects interfere out of nowhere.

The game play doesn't fare any better either. Far Cry's free-look system- allows players to quickly turn and target enemies- works. However, the company made a huge mistake trying to implement all of the movements within the game via motion controls. Shaking the nunchuk to jump really sucks (why not use the A button?) Also, forget about throwing grenades. The game's terrible timing system tries to calculate distance based on throwing. Most of the time, the outcome usually involves Carver getting blown to bits by accident. Rather than risk instant death, gamers should opt for another weapon or swing the Wii-Mote around to execute feral abilities -- half of which takes time and patience to figure out. Fortunately, enemies make this rather easy -- they're incredibly stupid.

Even worse, Far Cry Vengeance features no online multiplayer option, forcing gamers to settle for split screen action. This mode features a jumpy frame rate and even less details on-screen, resulting in awkward collision detection. In addition, Ubisoft neglected to include the map editor from previous versions. Players remain stuck with the same flawed, glitchy maps.

Far Cry Vengeance stands out as one of the worst Nintendo Wii games to date. A lack of online options and a Map Editor, two things found in the Xbox version from nearly two years ago, pretty much seal its fate. Talk about paradise lost.
