According to a story in Computer Games Online, the "revolution" in the Nintendo Revolution controller has been revealed. The controllers will apparently feature a motor that will provide resistance when being tilted. While games have had tilt sensors in the past for portable systems, this would be the first time it would be applied to a console controller.
Nintendo has kept information about the Revolution's controllers (and indeed, the Revolution itself) shrouded in secrecy, fearful rightly or not that the competition would copy their design. Nintendo has been working in a clandestine fashion, perfecting the controllers design, trying to make the technology work with wireless controllers. Cost, reliability, and power usage is a tricky triangle of considerations Nintendo is still weighing with their next-gen controller.
Interestingly, legendary game designer Peter Molyneux recently revealed that he has indeed seen the Revolution's controller, but he would not say anything specifically about its functionality. "There is a line at the end of the book 'Game Over' and it is: 'Never underestimate Nintendo'. That is all I can say about the controller," commented Molyneux.
