Just like an explosive shotgun shell used on a robot at close range, Fallout 3 has been blown away down under. No word on whether or not the game will be modified for a MA15+ rating as yet, but it still may happen.

The Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification has refused classification to Fallout 3. This essentially bans the sale of the game in the country unless a modified version is made. Fallout 3 will release on PS3, PC and Xbox 360 in Fall 2008.

Games like Postal 2 and Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure have also been banned outright in Australia, mostly because the country lacks a 18+ rating for games. 50 Cent: Bulletproof and Grand Theft Auto IV were modified from their original versions in order to receive classification in Australia. Fallout 3 deals with a number of mature subjects, including drug abuse, slavery and extreme violence.

Very confused. Can't gamers just order it from somewhere else or download it? Have friends bring it in? And how does a land of the descendants of ex cons wind up with any censorship at all? Baffling.

WTF! Australia is so ****ing stupid when it somes to games, they ban everything. I feel bad for the gamers there, they gonna miss out on one of the best games of 08.
