The team at Bethesda Softworks decided to share a lot of new info today. Rather than deliver hints or tidbits about the future of Fallout 3, it decided to cram it all into one brief email announcement that will have players buzzing.

First, PS3 players feeling the sting over not receiving any of the three downloadable content packs that their PC and Xbox 360 peers have been gloating about, will finally experience Operation Anchorage in late June. Dates for The Pitt and Broken Steel will release 4-6 weeks apart.

In addition, PC and Xbox 360 players will get two new DLC packs that will cost 800 points or $9.99 (yes, PS3 players will be getting the new DLC after they receive the three previously released packs):


  • Point Lookout (one of the worst kept secrets for Fallout 3 players) will release in June. In it, players will explore a new swampland area... sadly, no other details...
  • Mothership Zeta places players against angry aliens in a new quest where they'll have to survive an alien abduction. Zeta is due to release in late July (Xbox 360 and PC). Again, no further details... not even a mention of anal probes or anything.

Of course, that's not all. Fallout 3 continues the retail assault with three new products. For players who lack an Internet connection, fear credit card hacking or are too cheap to pony up for an Xbox Live account, the disc-based Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 brings The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage as Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #2 delivers Broken Steel and Point Lookout to PC and Xbox 360 players (oddly, Bethsoft says disc-based add-on packs will not release for PS3 players).

Finally, for PC and Xbox 360 players who've sat on the fence, waiting for the game's eventual Game of the Year edition... will have to wait until October for Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition, which includes the original game, all five add-ons ($59.99 for Xbox 360 and PS3; $49.99 for PC).
