Bethesda will deliver another round of Fallout 3 downloadable content with Point Lookout, available for Xbox 360 and PC June 23rd. In this latest expansion to the popular post apocalyptic adventure, you receive a radio transmission about the mysterious Wild Punga fruit. That leads you to Tobar the Ferryman, who gives you a ride on the Duchess Gambit to Point Lookout, a dangerous seaside town near the coast of Maryland.
Like the rest of Fallout 3, Point Lookout has seen better days. After making your way across the damaged boardwalk (complete with non-working Ferris Wheel), you'll enter swamp land populated by backwoods mutants. If you manage to get past them, you'll make your way to Calvert Mansion, a heavily fortified stronghold.
When you reach the place, you'll need to find Desmond, an ex secret agent investigating the Tribal cult, a strange group of crazies growing the fruit. He's a little paranoid (the guy installed lots of cameras and turrets), but if you reach him, he'll accompany you for a brief period; you can choose whether to join him or the cult. As expected, your choice will open up a whole new series of missions and possibilities.
No matter what you choose, you'll need the right tools to get the job done. Although you're free to use older weapons from the initial release, Bethesda added the double barrel shotgun, axe and shovel. All three represent Bethesda's goal to give Point Lookout a survival horror feel. Naturally, the redneck mutants add some needed personality to the game world.
This new setting, quests and characters should entice gamers to expand their Fallout 3 experiences, and we look forward to exploring Calvert Mansion when the adventure arrives on Xbox Live and the Internet June 23rd.
