Welcome to the gun show. This year plays host to a cache of high-profile shooting games.

Shooters always dominate the gaming scene, but rarely more so than 2007. We bring to you, in alphabetical order, the ten hottest shooters to come out this year. It's guaranteed that at least one of them has a bullet with your name etched on it.

The descent into the underwater city of Rapture should be one of 2007's greatest gaming experiences.
Bioshock
The spiritual successor the System Shock 2 takes players to an underwater city called Rapture, where science without restraint has run amok and the survivors have mutated themselves into abominations. Children known as Little Sisters loot the dead with giant lumbering Big Daddies by their sides. By using plasmids, players can genetically alter themselves with a variety of powers to take on the threats that lie in the abandoned city. The open-ended style and advanced artificial intelligence will practically guarantee that the game won't play the same way twice, making it one of the must-have games for 2007.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Out of the past and into the present, Call of Duty moves past the World War II and heads straight into the War on Terror. This complete restyling of the Call of Duty series sets players in a fictional story-line where they must bring down a ruthless Middle Eastern Dictator and a Russian ultranationalist before they can get their hands on nuclear weapons. Missions will take players across the globe, particularly the Middle East, where they will engage in close quarters urban combat. Those wishing to take a break from saving the world can take the fight online for high-intensity multiplayer action.
Crysis
Gamers will finally be able to put their high-powered gaming computers to the test with the most technologically sophisticated game to come out in 2007. The level of realism Crysis offers in graphics, physics and artificial intelligence will go virtually unmatched. Let's not forget the real time modifications players will have at their disposal, like turning invisible or enabling super strength. The non-stop action and explosions make upgrading that video card all the more worthwhile.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Most were automatically sold on the fact that it's a new Quake game-related game. This multiplayer shooter will drop players into the Strogg War, where they will be able to play as either side. Play to defend, or play to conquer - it doesn't matter. With a huge variety of classes, countermeasures for each weapon and easy to learn gameplay, this war could go on for years to come.
Gears of War PC
Xbox 360 players broke in Gears of War and made it a required game for the console system. An improved version featuring a boss that couldn't be fit into the original game and new multiplayer modes will be hitting the PC this fall. Step aside, 360 people. It's time for PC Gamers to show how this game is meant to be played.Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
