Defend earth or watch it blow up.

Players get to dive headlong into the human/Strogg conflict in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, a multiplayer campaign based shooter. Decide to be Strogg or human and then battle it out while also accomplishing different objectives. Each team has primary objectives, which requires a specific soldier class to accomplish them, while each player has a set of secondary tasks, like laying down mines or putting up turrets. Completing objectives and helping the team out by reviving fallen comrades, repairing their rides and shooting enemies that get in the way earn rank, which in turn grants bonuses so that soldiers can do all these tasks better and faster.

Expect to die quite a bit in Quake Wars. The one thing neither side quite perfected was any sort of formidable body armor. Soldiers have more hit points than support classes, but a well-aimed railgun or sniper bullet usually takes care of them pretty quickly. Similarly, all vehicles besides the tank have armor that's somewhat bullet resistant, yet quickly blow up after one or two hits. However, destroying vehicles provides an incredible spectacle, since they deform, lose wheels and pieces fly in all directions.

Both humans and Strogg have the same class system, and although they have some different toys at their disposal (humans have heavy artillery while Strogg counter with shield generators), both sides play pretty much the same. The game makes it easy for players of varying degrees of experience and skill by offering context sensitive controls that automatically switch to an appropriate tool when gamers press the F key near a hotspot.
