Players in search of a new sports game on Wii should play Electronic Arts' Grand Slam Tennis. This impressive first effort features current and former players from the tennis world, including Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal and John McEnroe, designed in a cute and Wii friendly cartoon style. Gamers can immediately hit the court in Play Now, or create a player and attempt stardom in Grand Slam career, where they'll compete against the computer to win all four major tournaments, including Wimbledon. If they crave human competition, they can challenge buddies in their living rooms or go online and ace their friends without the annoying lag.

To play, gamers can swing their remotes (ala Wii Sports Tennis) and let the game control the character's movement -- unless they opt to maneuver with the Nunchuk's analog stick. In order to unlock Grand Slam Tennis' full potential, however, they'll need to plug in Nintendo's MotionPlus accessory. While the device doesn't allow for a true 1:1 ratio between player and on-screen persona, it's close enough that gamers will be able to (for the most part) aim their shots without much issue. A steep learning curve, however, may impede their progress, especially without the benefit of a tutorial. Aside from that huge omission, Grand Slam Tennis is a well-made and fun game appropriate for wannabe tennis stars of all ages.
