Today, Koei announced that Dynasty Warriors 5 was in development for the PS2. This comes as little surprise, as the previous game in the series spawned two expansion games (DW4: Xtreme Legends and DW4: Empires, respectively). Last year saw the release of Samurai Warriors as a pseudo-incarnation in the series, but this latest game looks to continue the successful action/strategy series in earnest.

Very few gameplay details are known, other than the fact that Dynasty Warriors 5 will be based on the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" novel which details the history of China in the late Han dynasty, like all previous games in the series. The game promises to have the same thrill of taking on entire legions of troops single handedly, again, like previous games in the franchise. More features and additions are sure to be announced as the March release date draws closer.
