Square Enix today announced that Dragon Quest V for the DS has sold over one million copies. The publisher had shipped a million copies of the game in late July. Dragon Quest V for DS went on sale in Japan on July 17.

Dragon Quest V was also remade for the PS2 in 2004, with that version selling over 1.5 million copies in Japan. The game will be releasing in the U.S. for the first time in any official form, along with the prequel and sequel in the Zenithian trilogy, on the DS. Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen has a North American release date of September 16, 2008, with the release dates of Dragon Quest V: The Hand of the Heavenly Bride and Dragon Quest VI: The Realms of Reverie still pending.
