Activision and id Software have announced today an upcoming expansion for the popular DOOM 3. The expansion, which is named DOOM 3: Resurrection Of Evil and is being co-developed by Nerve Software, will continue the story of DOOM 3, and focus on an artifact that's found to have the power of Hell. In addition to the story elements, DOOM 3: Resurrection Of Evil will feature new weapons (including the double-barreled shotgun), new characters, and new locations..
"DOOM 3 defines first-person cinematic action, and the expansion pack continues right where we left off -- with a terrifying atmosphere, a new story and one of the most classic weapons ever, the double-barreled shotgun," states Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "Now that fans have survived the horrors and edge of your seat action of the original, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil delivers players deeper into the heart of the UAC to uncover new secrets and technology used to destroy the demon force that's Hell-bent on destroying you."
DOOM 3: Resurrection Of Evil will include additional multiplayer support (for up to 8 players) on the expansion's new maps and of course will require DOOM 3 to run No release date or rating for the game has been announced as of yet. DOOM 3, now available for the PC, is rated "M" for mature, and carries a MSRP of $49.99.
