Can't wait for the newest videos of Diablo III, StarCraft II or WoW? DirecTV will air the latest videos live from Anaheim.

One clear sign of World of Warcraft's popularity is that this year's BlizzCon event is now a Pay Per View event... yes, just like football or boxing. The two days of BlizzCon 2008 Live coverage begins on Oct. 10 at 1:30pm ET and runs through October 11. Viewers will get over 16 hours of SD or HD footage (as long as they have a HDTV DirecTV box) as demos for World of Warcraft, Diablo III and StarCraft 2 are shown on the main stage.
BlizzCon 2008 Live coverage will also air interviews, tournaments, team highlights, panel discussions and more. By subscribing to the event, WoW players will get a code to unlock an in-game polar bear mount ridden by a flag-waving murloc. While the $39.95 price tag may sound price, it's far less expensive than flying to Anaheim, California and getting a room for two days. Of course, if you don't have DirecTV, signing up for the service by September 30th will give you free access to the Pay-Per-View event.

This goes against all Blizzard does. Blizzard made games that were accessibly to the majority of gamers out there, and that's because they didn't have lots of money to spend on high end rigs, but now Blizzard is charging $40 just to watch their convention, when at this last WWI , we watched it for free. This is taking it out of the normal gamer's vision, and isolating us into the "non" believer section, because no way am I going to subscibe to Direct TV. Not only is Blizzard telling me that I have to pay $40 dollars to watch it, I have to pay monthly to Direct TV in order to watch the event. Why not have Blizzard host it online, and I'll pay them directly $40, to watch the event from their video servers? That would be much better for the average gamer.
