The GameDaily One-Minute Review

Fighters from around the world are threatening to shake NY down to its very core in Electronic Arts' Def Jam Fight for NY. The sequel to the smash hit, Fight for NY takes the series in a bold new direction, tossing out the wrestling rings in exchange for power plants, bars, and nightclubs. You can create your own fighter, then take to the streets to challenge famous tough guys from the rap scene. The game features weapons, crowd support (they actually beat down your opponents), and all sorts of brutal moves, and this is all neatly wrapped in a slick hip hop package that should please videogame as well as music fans. Unfortunately, the gameplay is marred by the unforgiving AI that brutally destroys you whenever you gain just the slightest advantage. With that being said, Def Jam is at times more stressful than fun to play, but it's still a solid purchase if you're looking to beat up some fools, especially if those fools are your friends in the game's multiplayer mode.
