Electronic Arts has big plans for Dead Space and today a motion picture based on the sci-fi horror franchise was put into motion. Variety is reporting that D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye, Disturbia) has been attached to direct the film. Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will produce the film with EA.
Currently, pitches are being taken from screenwriters on the film, after which it will then be sold to studios after EA approves of the creative direction. It is expected to be in the hands of a large movie studio by September 2009.
EA has been rather busy in the film space of late, having also optioned Dante's Inferno, Army of Two, The Sims and Mass Effect. Whether any of these will actually become movies (or movies people would care to watch) remains to be seen.
