Digital Extremes has just released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming title, Dark Sector. Very little is known about the game, but what we do know is very intriguing. According to representatives at Digital Extremes, the game will not hit retail shelves for at least two or possibly even two and a half years from now. That would give it roughly a Fall 2006 release date.

Dark Sector is planned for next generation platforms and the PC. With a late 2006 release date, that could indicate that Dark Sector is in fact the first announced game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 2. That could also mean that the new teaser trailer is in fact the first footage from a next generation title. Digital Extremes would not comment on the possibility of the game coming to the PS3 or Xbox 2, but they did confirm that the trailer is 100% in-game footage.
