Citing a source "with knowledge of the deal," TechCrunch has reported that Scottish game developer Realtime Worlds, known most recently for the Xbox 360 open-world hit Crackdown, has raised $50 million in a third round of financing led by Maverick Capital .

Realtime Worlds previously raised close to $33 million from CIM Fund and NEA. TechCrunch added that that Montgomery & Co., who represented Club Penguin in their $700 million sale to Disney in August 2007, were advisors on the deal.

Realtime Worlds was founded by David Jones, who created the Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings at what was then called DMA Design. As the CEO and Creative Director at Realtime, Jones is now working on All Points Bulletin, an MMO being created with the help of Korean company Webzen (Huxley).
