The GameDaily One-Minute Review
It's been a while since we've seen a pure 2-D entry in the Contra series, but Konami makes the wait worthwhile with Contra 4. This game is just as incredibly tough as previous Contras, without the benefit of game saves. Hardcore players who grew up with this sort of game, though, will find this is a glorious thing, one worth coming back to. The nostalgia-related goodies are worth a look, particularly the Challenge Mode and the unlockable NES Contra games. The graphics and sound are nostalgic, yet fine-tuned, up to the Nintendo DS' standards. Invest immediately – unless you're a wuss.
