Sci-Fi Channel's critically acclaimed TV series, "Battlestar Galactica," has opened up new doors for actors from the show. One of those opportunities came from Electronic Arts, who was recently casting for the live action video portion of its PC and Xbox 360 real-time strategy game, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars.

"I wasn't familiar with the game," said actress Grace Park, who plays Lt. Sandra "Boomer" Agathon in "Battlestar Galactica." "I heard about the game when the opportunity did come. I asked around and people told me that Command & Conquer was a huge game franchise."

Park got to keep her same rank for her first interactive adventure, bringing to life Lt. Sandra Telfair in the new game. She spent a full day working on the game, which required her to talk into the camera a lot. In the game, Park speaks directly to the player. That's something that was new for the actress, who usually pretends the camera doesn't exist for her film and TV roles. Park said enjoyed her first experience with video game acting and said she'd be open to other interactive roles if they come her way.

"I think the game looks pretty cool," said Park, who got a chance to see clips of her work courtesy of EA. "I'm looking forward to playing it, especially since the game will adapt to how you play."

This, however, wasn't Park's first exposure to video games.

"Growing up, I'd play games over at friends' houses or at a cousin's house," said Park. "We didn't have games at our house, so when we'd go over we'd play all day long. I remember playing Frogger, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros. I used to play that endlessly. Super Mario Bros. was my favorite. It's the memories you have associated with playing. That's another allure of playing video games. If you can play with your friends or people online, it becomes like an entertainment source and outlet for enjoyment."

When it comes to what kept her in front of the TV for hours on end, Park said it was all about exploring what the video game had to offer.

"The combinations you can make, exploring what your character can do, getting to the next level with your skills and the sense of achievement when you do get past that level, that's what drives you to play," said Park. "They're pretty addictive, once you start."

Games have come a long way since her Frogger days. Park was impressed with the advances developers now take advantage of, referencing the Wii controllers that allow players to move their in-game characters through physical arm and wrist motions instead of directional buttons.

"That is so nuts," said Park. "I'm scared of what else they can do. They have games on your phone now and once you start, the time flies by."
