Ramiro's targeting system also allows him to pull off special executions. Holding down the left shoulder button targets the nearest explosive item, be it a car, a barrel or even a chicken. Destroying these objects results in a huge explosion, taking out surrounding enemies. Holding down the right shoulder button allows Ramiro to squeeze off powerful headshots on his enemies. This process must be timed perfectly, or it comes off like just another shot.
On top of all this, Ramiro gains access to Loco Moves. The Tornado that makes him spin around guns blazing. Another move features a huge Mexican wrestler, stomping around and squashing enemies that get in Ramiro's path. Players activate these Loco Moves by pressing the triangle button -- a helpful change from having to hit shoulder buttons in Overdose.
In addition to the El Gringo Loco story mode, Carnage boasts three additional modes -- El Macho, Donkey and Fiesta. El Macho features more difficult challenges, along with several other playable characters. However, players must unlock its content by meeting objectives in missions featured in Loco mode. The Donkey and Fiesta modes offer multiplayer capabilities through AdHoc. More on that soon.
Hip music selections play throughout the adventure, ranging from Mexican rap to Mariachi tunes. Ramiro rattles off a series of taunts ("You've eaten your last burrito, gringo!"). The graphics look very good, with a steady frame rate and no camera problems to speak of thus far. More visual effects, especially during the Loco Moves, would only improve the game.
Chili Con Carnage serves up its tale of revenge later this month, and so far it lets off a whiff of satisfying action goodness. Look for the game February 27.
