Players seeking to push their PCs to the limits of physics should look no further than CellFactor Revolution. Developed with the support of Ageia, the game has been practically built from the ground up for use with the PhysX card. Available as a free download, players can jump right into CellFactor and put their telekinetic abilities to the test.
The game doesn't require an installed PhysX card, but most levels will run very poorly without the add-in physics processing board. Even on a top of the line computer, sophisticated levels like the Reactor Processing Core slow down and drop frames. CellFactor has an option to turn off PhysX capabilities so that players can see how unplayable it can become. That being said, even with the card, the game still needs a pretty hefty system to run. The recommended (not maximum) system requirements include a 3.0 GHz Dual Core processor.
CellFactor Revolution has a campaign mode that mainly serves as a tutorial. Players pick a class and run through a series of exercises, using limited powers against bot players. Classes include a Guardian, which lacks telekinetic psi abilities, but carries heavy weaponry and can activate a "Maximum Impact Run," which turns the player into a juggernaut and destroys anything that gets in the way. The Black-Ops class employs a combination of firepower and psi abilities. Lastly, the Bishop, represents the most intriguing class since it doesn't use any weapons at all, relying solely on psi abilities. Not only can the Bishop fly, but it can pick up groups of objects, crunch it into a ball and launch it at players. Alternatively, the Bishop can also collect environmental debris and launch them in succession like a machine gun (think Katamari Gone Wild).
