In Castle Crashers for Xbox Live Arcade, you'll find is classic beat-em-up bliss, backed by a wonderful upgrade system, several new characters and weapons (like Alien Hominid bashing people's heads in with a lollipop) and memorable gameplay. The hand-drawn visuals look spectacular, with frequently changing level designs, imaginative enemies and plenty of humorous moments. In addition, the music is epic stuff, a mixture of powerful battle themes and retro sounding grooves. The multiplayer aspect is also well realized, although Xbox Live connectivity issues dampen the fun. No matter – Castle Crashers is everything we could ever want in a party game and more. It's one of the best Xbox Live Arcade games of the year, and perhaps ever.
