Cars the franchise brought to you by Disney and Pixar has also been brought to the dual mini screens of the Nintendo DS with the help of THQ, Helix and Buena Vista Games. Beginning with 3 cars, you're brought to a series of mini games, a different game for each car. For example there is a memory game similar to Simon where the player must match the sequence of lights displayed on a swinging traffic light. Another of the original three games involves a gas station scene that can get pretty intense as you scribble like crazy with your stylus to get those cars filled and out of the station.
As you beat these games, more cars unlock, eventually giving you a total of 9 cars, and also a total of 9 games. Each car has their own mini game, my favorite being where you are a tow truck sitting by the river and must catch and lift garbage out within a certain time limit. Environmentally conscious and fun at the same time!
The mini games are fun but it also feels like the game can get pretty repetitious. They are the same games and they just get harder. I'm sure kids will enjoy the game to start but not sure that the re-playability will be very high. There is a multi-player mode that I didn't get to try out that I bet will help with that problem though. And I'm sure if you were a big fan of the movie, you'll love the game too.
