Twenty-two classic Capcom titles gathered on one disc and selling for $20. Man, that description alone should sell tons of copies. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Capcom Classics Collection is a huge collection that > chronicles the very beginnings of Capcom's vast history, from the introduction of Vulgus and Exed Exes to more popular titles such as Forgotten Worlds, Street Fighter II, and Final Fight. It's really going to be a fantastic collection, and Capcom was nice enough to give us a playtest of some of the games.

The first one that is rather enjoyable is Forgotten Worlds. I asked the Capcom representative how the quirky gameplay of this shooting game would be represented, and he immediately showed me how both the left and right analog sticks would come into play. The left controls the character's movement on the screen, while the right allows the aim to be made. This play dynamic is a sweet one, allowing players to shoot with precision and with little worry; well, until the enemies and bosses start stacking up, that is.

Final Fight is another game included in the compilation. Faithfully translated to a console in all its console glory (yes, including Damnd), this game looks to evoke memories of the good ol' beat-em-up. One or two players can jump right into the action, taking control of Cody, Guy, or Haggar as they pound the countless enemies of the Mad Gear game. It's basic and to the point, but faithfully translated and representing Capcom's great classic taste.

There are other games included in the collection as well, including the original Bionic Commando arcade game, a longtime favorite of mine; three Street Fighter II fighting games; Ghosts and Goblins and its follow-up Ghouls n' Ghosts, and many, many more. Capcom fans will find themselves bathing in its glorious retro offerings. Capcom Classic Collection will arrive in September at the bargain price of $20. Like I said, a steal.
