Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably heard about the new Call of Duty 4 maps that released on Xbox Live Marketplace this past Friday. For 800 points, you get four new multiplayer settings, including a TV station and a revitalized Call of Duty 2 map. We took some time over the weekend to see how these new maps play out. NOTE: Many online soldiers died to bring you this information, so we certainly hope you appreciate it.
The first map, Creek, is a mostly outdoorsy setting with vertical inclines and a cave, in case you feel like earning your frags in an interior setting. The level, which features a creek running through it, lets players take one of two routes in the stage. You can either try your luck in the aforementioned cave or the buildings sitting on either end, or you can attempt to get over the hill itself. The hill is an ideal spot for snipers, as they can see enemies coming from a distance. Be forewarned, though – it's relatively easy to sneak up behind someone and pop them when they least expect it, as the cave runs through both ways. And yes, details do count; the creek runs red with blood.

Commence fragging – the new Map Pack is here!
Chinatown will bear some familiarity to fans who blasted through Call of Duty 2. The level resembles the same layout as that game's Caretan map, but has a more run-down appearance instead of resembling a French village. Snipers should have no problem setting up firing positions on the second floor of some of these buildings, while more aggressive soldiers will find opportunities aplenty to fire off their more traditional weaponry. Shotgun, for the win.
Killhouse is the smallest of the four maps, which should make it one of the most popular. There's not a lot of space to maneuver as there is in the other maps. It's simply a warehouse with very few dark places to hide and lots of room to spin around and shoot soldiers like crazy. The roof is also wide-open, so you can call in air strikes from above and effectively wipe out the competition.
Lastly, there's Broadcast, a stage that might look familiar if you played through Call of Duty 4's single-player campaign. It's the same TV station introduced in the first level, complete with cubicles to duck behind and a second floor for distance kills. This is probably the most intricately designed of the four stages, thanks to the smattering of computer equipment, division of rooms and most importantly, lack of ambient outdoor lighting (for the most part). It's a little tougher to see enemies in some parts of this stage, but that's what makes it so much fun. You're also able to set up better claymore mine traps in this room, suckering some enemy soldier to chase you only to walk into a bloody ambush.
Overall, this Map Pack is worth the moolah. It's available for purchase now through Xbox Live Marketplace. If you bought the Game of the Year pack, however, you might run into a little difficulty getting your token redeemed for a map code. Just be patient, though – you'll frag with the best of them soon enough.
