Master Chief squares off against his biggest adversary, Modern Warfare.
by Chris Buffa on Tuesday, November 06, 2007

Master Chief, the console first-person shooter poster-boy and mass-market juggernaut may have some serious competition at the hands of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Story
Halo should win this round since it concludes a trilogy and has a rich history that goes along with its settings and characters. However, we can't get Halo 2's cheesy narrative out of our heads, especially since it bled into the third installment. Master Chief and his former arch nemesis, the Arbiter still hold hands throughout the adventure, working together to destroy common foes. This unfolds with little tension, and support characters such as the preachy Cortana get on our nerves. Call of Duty 4, on the other hand, features an expertly woven narrative dealing with current struggles in the Middle East and some maniac in Russia. It features the same American bravado that appears in most war-based games, but it also makes us appreciate the hard work that goes into being a soldier. Plus, we really dig the mission briefings. Yet, it's hard to ignore the Halo novels.

Audio

The babbling from a battlefield full of Grunts is no match for the thunderous atmosphere of the front lines in Call of Duty 4.

Dude, call of duty 4 easily wins in m opinion since it is more of skill and not just running out, getting shot, and being able to kill them cause of the dum juggernaut shi*. Call of duty 4 is all around better, graphics are clearer, story is SO MUCH MORE simpler, and way more fun. GO CoD 4

man. No one is arguing with you we are just teenagers, we are just civilians playing video games. These video games get us as close as we can get to real war without putting us in the front lines as meat-shields for the higher ranking officers. Games like COD4 make us truly consider our odds of survival before joining the army, navy, Marines or any of the divisions because of their fancy advertising. After playing some COD4, I go light up a blunt and think about how my life is worth living, how ****ed up all the bloodshed is, and how we need peace. Your friends died for their country and to protect the idea of "freedom." Unfortunately real freedom doest exist in this world. Only governments, tyrants and individuals that no one knows about profit from the death of human lives; whether those lives be your friends or those of any country.

I firmly believe this review is full of fail and AIDS. Multiplayer a tie? Come on now, you've got forge, matchmaking, vast, beautiful landscapes full of people to shoot and things to shoot them with, you've got vehicles and a wide range of weapons and equipment, and with CoD4 you've got the same damn thing you've always had in multiplayer. As for storyline you're reviewing Halo 3 not how it works with Halo 2 or what have you, and give it credit for being original at the very least and not some political commentary with good voice acting. Not to mention Halo's more about the individual. You know what? I'm not even sure why I'm getting into this. Halo 3 has a better multiplayer. You can't possibly think that CoD compares in ANY way. Hell, this is probably something Activision's paying for. On;y way to explain some of the half-witted crap you pulled out.

ive never pllayed cod4, due to the fact that my xbox broke a day after i got it back from month long repairs, so call me a biased jerk. i wont care. but halo 3 has great multiplayer with forge, saved films, and new weapons. also, it has vehicles, cod4 doesnt. BIG difference in the way the game plays with or without vehicles. all in all tho, id have to go with cod4 because you fight with a ton of nub NPC on your side. watching those guys get blown up in a few hits is WAY cooler than the halo marines, who withstand half a billion friggin plasma shots b4 they die.

Thats supposed to be,Its the third instalment in a proven franchise. People would be pissed if it wasn't. Read my comment below for this to make sense.

I have to comment about their line saying that Halo 3 "feels like more of the same". Of course it does. Its the third installment in a proven eople would be pissed if it wasn't. Also it really annoys me when people complain about the graphics in Halo 3. Anybody who doesn't like them obviosly never stopped to look around and take in one of the many amazing vistas or watched an explosion in slow motion. Also Halo 3 takes place 500 years in the future, of course the guns aren't going to be as loud.
