The long awaited sequel to the big hit, Call of Duty is finally coming out this year, and a lot can be expected from it. There will be a tweaked graphics engine that offers large, more immersive, interactive environments, and 15 new weapons. You'll be able to go through the campaigns as you did in the first game, playing as the Allies and the Russians. Though game style doesn't look like it's going to be much different, that's fine, considering that the first game got it down pretty solid. Improvements include a more advanced AI system, and multiple endings for missions that will add a new level to the game play, making this one of the biggest titles to keep an eye out for!

Though not much has been released on the specifics of CoD 2, it is looking to be a great sequel to an already great game. The newly improved graphics engine will allow for more realistic smoke effects, seamless looking weather conditions such as rain or snow, intricate maps with larger areas to fight in, and enough explosion/gunfire effects to make anybody drop their jaw. Activision is attempting to make a non-linear playing system, which means that there can be multiple ways to accomplish your mission, which will give you more freedom on what you can do for each level so it becomes less repetitive.

The AI is being rewritten from scratch to make your teammates smarter, so they'll actually be helping you out instead of dying left and right, and having you, as the player, do pretty much everything. You won't be able to issue commands and orders, which is a bit disappointing, however the AI teammates will be able to automatically take cover and give you suppressive fire. The sound developers also created something called the "Battle Chatter System" that will give the AI players the ability to communicate with you with important information utilizing about 500 words or more. This will allow you to learn strategic information, and anything else that can help move the game forward.

The storyline still taking place in WWII, three new campaigns will be offered in CoD 2. Similar to the first game you'll have your British, Russian, and American campaigns to play through, but with a different spin. The British campaign will be taking place in the North-African desert, which gives you a new type of fighting environment. In the Russian campaign you will change characters and fight in Moscow, moving your way toward Berlin. In the American campaign, there will be a series of top secret missions to accomplish, but further details need to be released (because they're secret?).

With 15 new weapons added to the game, and every aspect tweaked to the high standards expected from WWII first person shooters, CoD 2 is anticipated to be one of the biggest games of this year. Though it might not be the milestone the first title was, it should still be a great addition to the series.
