Cake Mania is one of most addictive PC games on the Internet right now, a time sink that challenges you to bake cakes in order to please annoying customers. Its sequel, Cake Mania 2, retains the original's appeal, but it incorporates a bevy of exciting features, which may ruin your life, but in the best way imaginable.

Much like its prequel, Cake Mania 2 tasks you with pleasing an assortment of annoying customers by baking delicious confections before they lose interest and leave. Jill, the cutie from the first game, returns to become the cake baking goddess of the universe, as she faces 204 levels of Betty Crocker madness and 18 new customer types, which include aliens, a nuclear technician and federal agents, all of which want their cakes ASAP. To satisfy their needs, direct her around the kitchen, baking the cakes and then decorating them with eight different Cake Toppers. You can even create 10 types of cakes and adorn them with six types of frosting.

In addition to the baking, there is a story with six endings. Instead of following a specific goal, you choose Jill's career path and ultimately her destiny. Decisions include assisting her college friend Risha in (as the fact sheet says) "her posh, Northwestern rooftop bakery", helping her ex boyfriend Jack run his aquatic theme park or setting off on her own and rocketing to superstardom.

Cake Mania 2 has modest system requirements. Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP users need a 500 MHz Pentium 2 or better with 128 MB or RAM, DirectX7 or higher and a 3-D video card with 16MB of video RAM. Vista users, on the other hand, must have an 800 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and DirectX 9.

We have yet to play the game, but from the looks of it, Cake Mania 2 is just as crazy as its prequel, and before long, you'll multitask until your brain implodes. It sure beats making a mess in the kitchen, so check out the game this October, and look for the review right here on GameDaily.
