The Burnout series has finally made its way to handheld format, arriving on the PSP, and it's easy to say that the game retains all the great intensity and excitement of last year's Takedown, and then some. In fact, fans of the past Burnout games will be thrilled to find that this game contains some great stuff from those previous editions.
In the game, you'll take part in a number of events, including Crash Mode, Road Rage, and the addition of Pursuit Mode, where you're put into a squad car and given the task of taking down a "target car" within a certain area. All these modes add up to a lot of fun, and the game can even be hooked up with another player for Wi-Fi play, teaming up the excitement.
The game looks good. It's not as smooth as Takedown was, but it still looks pretty sweet and moves at a fast pace. The crashes look as great as they always have, even with a little lack in detail here and there. The sound is plagued by some bad EA Trax picks, and, unfortunately, you're not able to play your own songs from the PSP. Having this ability would've made this an absolute must-have.
As is, though, Burnout Legends is still highly recommended for its intense racing action, solid controls, and decent presentation, as well as the ability to thrive in its racing glory with another player. This truly is the stuff of Legends.
