Steven Spielberg's BOOM BLOX for the Wii Unveiled (WII)

After months of secrecy, EA shows that it's having a blast creating a game with film director Steven Spielberg ... even though that annoying Indiana Jones project might get in the way from time to time.

Last year, video game company Electronic Arts announced that it had partnered with director Steven Spielberg to create a game that -- based on an teaser video -- looks like a Jenga remix. Today, EA reveals that the game promises to be much more than the rec-room stacking game popular in the '80s.

BOOM BLOX is a puzzle game for Nintendo Wii that involves using blocks and other props on screen to push and blow up piles of blocks in stylized environments with Tiki, Medieval, Frontier and Haunted themes. The catch? Figure out how to solve each puzzle while avoiding Blox-laying chickens and baseball-tossing monkeys.

BOOM BLOX will include 300 levels, include 30 LEGO-like characters to help drive the action and a level creator that will allow players to make their own puzzles and share their creations with other Wii players. The game will allow players to go solo, play cooperatively or allow up to four players go head to head. Look for BOOM BLOX to hit the streets in May 2008.
