Bolt Review (XB360)

Superhero dog visits the super hydrant in Disney's unimaginable game.

by Robert Workman on Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Bolt puts you in control of young secret agent Penny and her super-powered dog Bolt as they battle evildoers in a popular TV show. While it's a neat idea to base the game around the fictional TV show rather than in-film events, the result is a boring adventure that'll only appeal to kids who aren't looking for a great deal of complexity. For instance, the game's combat is easily thwarted by controlling Penny, who sneaks up on baddies and knocks them out with a single blow. Bolt, fares slightly better but still relies on a simplistic combo of fighting moves. Completed in a few mere hours, there's nothing that will wow most players and several weak mini-games don't add much value either. Disney should've given Bolt's right-hand hamster Rhino his own game instead of shoving this one through the doggy door.
