Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today that The Matrix Online now has a new release date of March 22, 2005 in the United States and April 8, 2005 in Europe. A new series of trailers will be released leading up to the launch outlining the different factions, and the first three are available now at thematrixonline.com. Also, fans who pre-order The Matrix Online will be allowed to enter the game three days before those who didn't pre-order and their characters will receive the in-game ability "Hyper Jump".
The Matrix Online takes place chronologically after The Matrix film trilogy. Under development by Monolith Software, The Matrix Online lets players support one of three sides -- Zion, the Machines and the Exiles -- and help determine the future of the Matrix itself. The game is rated "T" for Teen and will retail for $49.99 with a monthly subscription fee of $14.99 (or an option to purchase pre-paid game cards with 60 days worth of playtime for $29.99).
