This year, Electronic Arts wants you to blow everything up in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Much like the original, you'll kill bad guys alongside a squad of computer controlled commandos, and thanks to developer DICE's proprietary technology, lay waste to buildings and other objects. We recently uncovered details about the game's multiplayer, and while it doesn't appear that the designers will redefine the genre, there's plenty of action to keep us squeezing the trigger.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 takes place near Russia. As such, you should expect to engage the enemy while wandering around in a plethora of snowy environments. This extends to the game's multiplayer, as players wage war across frozen levels. It remains to be seen, however, if the inclement weather impacts gameplay.

Before starting a match, players select one of four soldier types (Engineer, Recon, Assault, Medical) and then choose their weapons. The game's armory includes your standard issue but fun to use machine guns, pistols, sniper rifles and even a grenade launcher, the necessary tools to make people dead. You can even hunt them down while riding a new four-wheel ATV.

Shooting other players, however, is only part of the fun. If someone runs into a building, don't bother pursuing them. Simply fire a grenade and tear a chunk from the wall. You can bring the whole thing down if you want, a sweet feature that puts campers in their place. In addition, you'll tear bark from trees, shred vehicles and send everything sky high by shooting your friend and ours, the explosive barrel.

In one of the modes, Rush, one side attempts to defend a bunch of crates while the opposition tries to destroy them. Not exactly the most original mode, but shove an automatic rifle into our hands and we'll happily wander off like lemmings in search of evildoers. We also learned that to re-spawn, players can parachute into the fight, a cool addition to the game.

As you cap the enemy, you earn medals and earn experience points. That said, it remains to be seen how all of this impacts the game.

At this point, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 looks fun and we'd love to know more. Stay tuned for more coverage in the near future.
