Listen up soldier! Electronic Arts' and Digital Illusion's Battlefield 2 is going to redefine PC first person shooters when it releases this June. Not only does it contain scores of deadly weapons, but there are a multitude of different vehicles to use, and this is the purpose of this feature. With so many tanks and choppers out there you're going to need your wits about you to avoid being turned into tomato paste. Here is a document on the many vehicles of Battlefield 2. Study it well Private, because this information will be the difference in how you come home, either standing on your own two feet, or in a pine wood box.
F-18 E/F Super Hornet
Packing 11 weapon stations that include AIM-9 and AIM-120 sidewinder missiles, laser-guided bombs, two General Electric high-powered engines, and a whopping 44,000 pounds of godly thrust, the F-18 is one of the deadliest and most reliable planes in the world. Birthed by the team of Boeing, GE, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman, the Super Hornet is used for several missions including day and night air strikes, escort, air superiority, and reconnaissance, among others.
HH-60H Seahawk
Designed by Sikorsky, the Seahawk is a heavily-armored helicopter capable of carrying up to eleven soldiers as well as a HUMVEE. It can be used to rescue troops that have been lost behind enemy lines, and because it can be flown low to the ground it doesn't show up on enemy radar. Armed with two GAU-17A mini guns or M-240 machine guns, it's more than capable of causing some serious collateral damage. If you need to transport a TON of stuff, the Seahawk should definitely be your vehicle of choice.
AH-1 Super Cobra
Bell Helicopter Textron's AH-1 Super Cobra is actually a modified version of the attack helicopter that saw action in Vietnam. Used for air-to-air combat, clearing landing zones, and escorting other helicopters, the AH-1 is a multipurpose aircraft that can operate day or night and in any weather condition. If you've got men on the ground and they're taking a beating, flying one of these puppies into the war zone will most certainly turn the tide.
F-15E Strike Eagle
This two-man operated speed demon is a darling of the military. A fast as a hell fighter plane capable of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, it can detect targets from a ways away and is more than capable of going in, destroying everything and then getting the hell out in a hurry. Each of its engines is capable of 29,000 pounds of thrust.
HMMWV
The High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle is a light-weight and speedy ride that can be used to transport soldiers, medical supplies, or just a whole lot of ramen (whatever your fancy). This heavy duty four-wheel-drive behemoth can be air dropped onto the battlefield and can traverse any type of environment, whether it's water, mud, or snow. Ideal for getting the kids to school on those blustery winter days.
M1A2 SEP
The Abrams tank is a total monster, a uranium-plated beast that comes equipped with a machine gun and a 120mm smooth bore cannon capable of firing armor piercing rounds that do a lot more than just punch holes through things. Not exactly the type of vehicle that I'd want to attack...with anything.
M6 Bradley Linebacker
A glorious marriage between the Stinger anti-aircraft missile and the M6 Bradley, the Linebacker is used to provide cover as well as take out targets at a distance of up to 10,000 feet! Capable of shooting planes and helicopters from the sky, it's good to have when your enemy's trying to attack from the air. Actually, it's just good to have one of these, period!
Wessex-Saker FAAV
The kids next door to my house have a buggy and they like to take it across the street to the parking lot and perform tricks, but it's definitely not as cool as the Wessex-Saker, primarily because it doesn't come with a light or heavy machine gun. The FAAV is good for getting the hell out of dodge or slaughtering enemies on the ground, but it's going to get obliterated by the armored vehicles.
LAV-25 APC
The LAV-25 isn't as cool an APC as the one seen in Aliens (coolest...APC...ever), but it still gets the job done. Able to use both four and eight-wheel drive, it can traverse some steep @$$ hills that other vehicles would slide down from. Armed with multiple machine guns, it's much more than a means to transport goods. Get in its way and you'll be re-spawning.
Rigid Inflatable Boat
This high-speed boat (also known as the RIB) is made of a special glass-reinforced plastic and nylon, making it a great getaway vehicle, though it's primarily used for Navy SEAL insertion and extraction. The RIB comes with a mounted machine gun so it's not a pushover, but I don't recommend taking on a chopper with it.
