The Screen Actors Guild's (SAG) national board today voted to send a referendum out on the proposed Interactive Media Agreement (IMA). The board decided not to issue a formal recommendation for the proposal. SAG members that request a ballot (most likely those who are working in the video game industry) will vote on the IMA.
This referendum will be sent out on July 13 and be due back by July 28. Game producers have agreed to extended their contract offer to July 31 as a result of today's board decision. IMA negotiations began in February 2005 by both SAG and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). AFTRA approved the new IMA contract on June 21, while SAG's national executive committee rejected the tentative agreement.
