Atomic Betty and her friends have enjoyed some adventures on Cartoon Network through a weekly TV series, and now fans can enjoy her antics on the Game Boy Advance with Namco's new game, which combines small shooting stages with platforming and puzzle stages to create an experience that may be right at home for some.

The game puts you in control of Betty and her friends- either her school chums Noah and Paloma or her outer space pals Sparky and X-5. Throughout the game, a number of challenges will be provided, either having to complete certain assignments or defeat certain enemies in space combat. The platforming stages involve some strategy, as each character brings a specific skill that can be used. Noah, for instance, can push objects around, while Paloma can slide under platforms to reach new areas. There's also other items to locate as well.

The shooting stages are pretty fun, but they seem to be a lot simpler than they should be. You basically move your ship around the screen and shoot at certain enemies when they pop up. You'd expect a game like this to be a little bit different, especially with the exploration involved in the other levels. Still, they're fun whuile they last.

The game looks good, although the sound is somewhat limited. The story is told through bright little static images lifted straight from the show. Those who aren't familiar with it may grow slightly bored by this effort, but fans will certainly get a kick out of it.

Our Final ScoreMediocre
