Today, NCsoft reported its results for the second quarter of the fiscal year. The company had net sales of 81.2 billion won, a seven percent increase year-over-year. However, income was only 6.1 billion won for Q2 2008, down 42 percent from Q2 2007.
The decrease in profits was attributed to investments in various NCsoft development studios. By contrast, the sales increase was said to be a result of blocking various private Lineage servers and the launch of the Lineage II Gracia Part 1 update.
"In order to maintain our ongoing development cycles and a diverse game portfolio, multiple games are in development currently across all NCsoft studios," said NCsoft's CFO Jaeho Lee. "We anticipate publishing these new titles within the next two to three years, during which we believe we'll maintain NCsoft's status as a leader in the global on-line game market."
Moving forward, NCsoft is expecting large returns from the launch of its next large MMORPG property, Aion, in Korea at the end of 2008.
