Game studio 1988 Games announced today that it's solidified two key partnerships for the development of Zombie Massacre, which it is bringing to the Wii and to mobile phones. For the Wii version, 1988 has selected Papaya Studio as the exclusive development partner. The two will "collaborate to develop and produce an exciting and original videogame property that is sure to bring new and never-before-seen gameplay experiences to the world's leading next-gen console," 1998 said in a statement.
Zombie Massacre is described as an "over-the-top" action driving game in which players take the wheel of a vintage 1950s automobile with a nuke in its trunk, as they race against the clock and into zombies.
"We are thrilled to be working with Papaya Studio on our project! Their development ability and design expertise are second-to-none, and we look forward to delivering an original Wii project with them that will be as exciting as it is bold," commented Benjamin Krotin, President of 1988 Games.
"We are extraordinarily excited to be collaborating with 1988 Games on Zombie Massacre, and we look forward to applying our game development expertise as we strive to make an unforgettable game for the Nintendo Wii," added Lin Shen, President, Papaya Studio.
As for the mobile phone version of the game, 1988 selected AppAbove Games as the exclusive mobile publishing and development partner. "We are once again ecstatic to be working with such an active and innovative company as AppAbove Games," said Krotin. "We know that this opportunity to collaborate will undoubtedly bring forth an astounding expansion to the world of Zombie Massacre."
"We are very excited to team up with a company that shares our philosophy on games. Design and game play are equally as important as great graphics and a catchy name when producing a quality title. We both strive to create games that are easy to learn and fun to play over and over," commented John Bizzarro, Co-President, AppAbove Games.
Zombie Massacre is just starting development, but it will also be headed to the big screen. As we previously reported in September, filmmaker Uwe Boll teamed with 1988 for the movie. Boll said the film will likely have a $6 million budget and will shoot in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2009.
