Today, RealGames revealed the results of a study by Information Solutions Group. The survey of 4,537 respondents between December 28, 2007 and January 11, 2008 suggests that casual games may positively affect certain personal habits.
2,784 survey respondents said they watch their weight, with nearly 60 percent of those individuals asserting that game playing provides a distraction from overeating and snacking. 28 percent of survey respondents said they feel that playing casual games distracts them from eating and they use game play as a means to reduce their food intake.
Furthermore, of the 1,324 survey respondents who said they were smokers, 42 percent said that playing casual games provides a distraction from smoking, and a similar percentage use casual games as a means to reduce smoking. Additionally, most smokers play after work or during the weekend, which further curbs time that might be spent smoking.
