Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy is quickly climbing the sales charts and is already one of the best video games of all time with an aggregate review score on GameRankings.com of 97.4%, almost matching the much heralded Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (97.6%).
Wii owners hungry for the first real Mario game on the platform have snapped up the game in droves. "Super Mario Galaxy had the strongest one-week debut of any Wii game to date and has also become the best-selling Mario title ever in its first week, with U.S. sales of more than 500,000, based on internal sales figures," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's outgoing senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "It makes an easy gift choice as the holiday shopping season kicks off."
Not that consumers will need much incentive to add Super Mario Galaxy to their Christmas shopping list, but Nintendo is also letting gamers test drive the game at one of 25 malls across the country during Nintendo's Mall Experience, which showcases other Nintendo games as well. Nintendo's Mall Experience is scheduled to run through January 8. More information is available here.
