After months of speculation about further delays, the much anticipated "sim everything" title Spore from famed designer Will Wright finally has an official release date. On September 7, 2008 EA and studio Maxis will ship the game worldwide for PC, Macintosh, Nintendo DS, and mobile phones.

"The wait is almost over," said Maxis Chief Designer Will Wright. "We're in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can't wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year."

Spore is in essence an evolution simulator, giving players the ability to create a whole universe. Through unique tools, players will be able to create and evolve life, form tribes, build whole civilizations and even explore a universe created by other gamers. Similar to Sony's LittleBigPlanet, sharing creations will be a big aspect.

In the meantime, while we all wait for September, Spore fans can continue to monitor Spore.com for screenshots, video and more updates.
