Daily Games News is reporting that a lawsuit has been launched against Microsoft for the large number of Xbox 360 hardware failures. This suit is being brought forth in Sacramento County Superior Court, citing Californian consumer protection statutes.
The class action suit not only admonishes Microsoft for the shoddy quality of the Xbox 360 hardware, but also cites stories from VentureBeat, which claim that Microsoft knew about the problems but released the console anyway in order to beat the PS3 and Wii to market.
The suit is seeking an order for Microsoft to relinquish all profits gained from Xbox 360 sales and that the company issue a refund program in the state of California.

People sue for the dumbest reasons. Obviously some people don't realize that Hardware Failures are usually pretty impossible to predict. Microsoft didn't know their older systems would rrod, so its not their fault. Any way you look at it...Microsoft is still the best producer of Game Consoles and PCs. Sony had its problems with the PS3 and PS2, and yet noone was sued there. I know so many people who had to replace the reader laser in the PS2 so many times, even on the newer models. And i have a few friends whose PS3s broke 3 or 4 times, after getting them fixed, that they got so pissed and just bought a 360....and they are all happy now.
Can I sue Rockstar Games because when i go too fast in San Andreas on a motorcycle the roads glitch out and i get thrown from the bike for no reason?
Can I sue Sony because I have to open my PS2 up and redial the scanning eye to a more appropriate level, or just dust it out with some rubbing alchohol?
Can I sue Nintendo because my classic NES requires me to jam 2 games in the port and then reset it until i dont see red and yellow boxes?
Its about time somebody stepped up and sued Microsoft!!! We have all gone through the painful experience of sending our Xbox's in and waiting weeks upon weeks for our new ones to come in. Serves Microsoft right!!!!!

My buddy got the Red Ring of death, and it was known as a harddrive failure. He sent the Xbox 360 back, and got an entire new one for free, plus 2 free months of LIVE for the inconvience. I was quite amazed how well Microsoft handled the issue. To sue over something as stupid as this? Well, alot of people in our country today are just Sue-Happy idiots. Hah.. Microsoft in My Opinion, is a very well built Computer company with good Customer Support.
wow it had happend 3 times and i sent it to xbox repairs each time....after the third time it hasnt happend....xbox360 is the best gaming system...its not a big deal..why would we want a refund..i live in California but i dont need a refund...maybe the xbox fell over if they stand it up and they just want money
haha i just got the rings a few days ago but its not that big a deal i think they repair it for free. It is sort of ridiculous how much this happens, but i thought that they fixed the issue with the newer xboxes. i had an older one
