The folks at Trademork have discovered that Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner has filed for a new trademark called Prince of Persia Prodigy. The trademark is for "game software and electronic game programs" and seems to cover just about every type of game, including CD/DVD-based, cartridge, portable, console, downloadable, mobile phone, etc.
Mechner is not only the creator of the Prince of Persia series but he also owns the rights to the franchise and has licensed the game to French publisher Ubisoft, which reinvigorated Prince of Persia in 2003 with The Sands of Time. He is also working on a Prince of Persia film with Jerry Bruckheimer.
Ubisoft has previously confirmed a new Prince of Persia game for fiscal 2008, and we'd suspect that this Prodigy title could very well be that game.
We've pinged Ubisoft for further comment and will update with any new information.
