Nintendo's new DSi handheld has once again dominated hardware sales in Japan, according to the latest data from Media Create. The DSi sold through another 85,327 units, a sizable drop from last week's nearly 105K, but still far more than any other platform for the week ended November 16.
Overall hardware sales were down, but the Wii was the one platform to see a slight increase, rising a couple thousand units sold to 26,787. Sony's PSP hasn't had many new releases in recent weeks but the portable still sold 38,153 units, putting it in second place on the chart. The PS3 edged out the Xbox 360 by almost 10,000 units, 17,448 vs. 7,983. The PS3 was boosted in part by having two titles make the top 10, including Insomniac Games' Resistance 2, which sold 33,584 copies.
Rounding out the hardware sales were the PS2 with 5,421 units and the DS Lite, which plummeted to 3,559 units as more consumers looked to pick up the new DSi. The DS continues to dominate the software scene, as eight of the top 10 selling games were for Nintendo's handheld.
