Casual Games Company Oberon Lands $20 Million in Funding

Oberon Media jointly announced with Infinity I-China Fund today that the Chinese group has agreed to invest $20 million in the leading casual games company. "The investment is part of a larger global strategy for Oberon Media and Infinity, which includes expanding the casual game publishing and distribution business and establishing new partnerships in China," the two parties explained. "The deal also further solidifies the fund's focus on investments in companies that are industry leaders as well as focused on China."

"We have identified the gaming field as a strategic cluster for investments. China, which has a strong and rapidly growing local gaming market with more than $2B in annual sales and 50 million users, is building a reputation as an emerging site for game development studios. The Oberon Media investment, our flagship deal within the gaming cluster, is meant to serve as our cornerstone and a model for future Infinity I-China investments," said Amir Gal-Or, managing partner of the Infinity I-China Fund.

"Expanding our business into China is an important part of Oberon Media's global strategy," added Tal Kerret, Chairman of Oberon Media. "We are very excited to have Infinity I-China as a strategic partner, as they have many substantial relationships in China. This new partnership will serve as an asset for extending our pursuits there and establishing an Oberon Media presence on the ground."

Mr. Fei Jianjang, managing director of the I-China Fund, noted, "Oberon has great potential to do well in the Chinese market. Towards this goal, we are working on several levels. We are confident that the results will exceed expectation."

Founded in 2003, Oberon currently has two primary business focuses: gaming platforms combining management, aggregation, billing and advertising tools; and casual game publishing (including production, development and distribution) across all platforms and at retail. The Oberon Media Gaming Platform has been adopted by many leading digital and media companies, such as Microsoft, Comcast, Verizon, Electronic Arts, MySpace, France Telecom and NHN.
