Speaking at a BlizzCon press conference attended by WarCry, World of Warcraft production director J. Allen Brack and Diablo III Lead Designer Jay Wilson talked about their respective franchises. Several issues were discussed, including the fact that Diablo III will not have a subscription and the likelihood of a Warcraft IV RTS sometime in the future.
One of the most interesting comments came from a response about the Wrath of the Lich King beta having data files titled "Paid Character Customization." When pressed, Brack confirmed that World of Warcraft would actually have paid character customization in one form or another, but that timing and details had not been worked out yet.
