IGN is reporting that Tecmo has issued a response to Tomonobu Itagaki's decision to leave the company and to file a lawsuit against it. Relating to said suit over unpaid bonuses, Temco claims that it has paid Itagaki a yearly bonus and denies responsibility for the bonus he claims, saying it is a holdover from the previous management. The company also added that the damages sought out against Yoshimi Yasuda, CEO of Tecmo, are a byproduct of "distortions" from Itagaki.
The statement from Tecmo further berates Itagaki for going public with this matter. The company considered the litigation both personal and internal, so they did not disclose it to the public at large. Tecmo also added that Itagaki has skewed the production of Team Ninja games to make it seem as though he alone was personally responsible for their creation.
Tecmo's U.S. office also added that Team Ninja is still up and running, saying, "Team Ninja is, more than ever, committed to producing compelling and cutting edge games in order to maintain its reputation as a high quality developer and to continue to receive the support of its loyal fans."
