MCV is reporting that both Square Enix and Warner Bros. are in the market for Eidos. Warner currently owns about 20 percent of the British software company. Media reports have placed game publishers EA and Ubisoft in the running for Eidos as well.
Square Enix's president Yoichi Wada recently visited IO Studio, an Eidos developer responsible for Hitman and Kane & Lynch. He is set to return to he U.K. soon to help make progress on a potential deal.
"I think Warners will still win, but it's very interesting that Square have expressed this late interest," said a source to MCV. "They are clearly looking for Western talent."
