MCV is reporting that a board meeting at Eidos has approved the company's acquisition by Square Enix. No jobs are expected to be lost as a result of the move and no expected revisions to the U.K. publisher's business are expected to come down. With no major obstacles left for this acquisition, it is expected that Eidos will be subsumed by Square Enix in early May 2009.
Major Eidos shareholder Warner Bros. has given its general approval of the acquisition by Square Enix. The Japanese publisher will pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $119 million for Eidos. This move will not only benefit Square Enix's efforts in the West, but will also net them key IPs like Hitman and Tomb Raider.
